Why your Listing Needs Photos

We are getting some great listings at http://www.easyhomeexchange.com . If you have taken the time to list your residence, but did not include any photos, now is a good time to go back and add them in.

The first thing other members look at when looking for another member to trade with, is the photo in your listing. If you do not have one, you will be passed over most of the time for a listing that has photos.

At the least you should have an outside photo of your residence and several inside photos (bedroom, living room, kitchen) to give the prospective home exchanger a good idea what your home has to offer.

You can also upload more photos and edit your photos at anytime when you login and go to your Member Area.

Uploading Photos is very simple and easy to do.

Exchange Dollars 101

Today we want to go over in detail the most unique feature at EasyHomeExchange.com , and that is, Exchange Dollars. Exchange Dollars are very simple to use and offer a new way to make home exchanges.

What are Exchange Dollars?
Exchange Dollars make it easier to make an exchange. You no longer have to find someone willing to trade their home for your home at the exact same time, with homes in the locations you both want, and with homes of the same size / amenities.

Exchange Dollars are like points in a way. You use exchange dollars to trade with other members for vacation nights at their home. This way you stay at anyone’s property by giving them the requested number of exchange dollars. This allows two people to make an exchange at different times of the year, or for different size accommodations.

So if you have a 4 bedroom lake house you might ask for more exchange dollars than someone with a one bedroom apartment.

Exchange Dollars also allow members to exchange properties that are not of equal value, or what members would consider an equal exchange. So the person with a small home can save up exchange dollars by having multiple members stay that their home. Then the member with the small home can give the saved up exchange dollars to another member with a larger or more desirable home.

How Do I Earn and Spend Exchange Dollars?
When you join EasyHomeExchange.com you will get Exchange Dollars in your account for free, just for joining. You also get Exchange Dollars from other members when you let them stay at your residence. You spend Exchange dollars when you stay at another members residence.

How Much Should I charge per night for my home?
You can charge whatever you feel your home is worth per night in exchange dollars, but a good rule of thumb is to charge what your home would rent for if you were renting it out per night. Most of our members figure this out in US Dollars and then use that number to get an idea of how many exchange dollars to charge. You can also look at other members listings on the web site to get a feel what other members are charging per night in exchange dollars. You can change the amount of Exchange Dollars you are asking for at anytime by logging in and them going to the "Member Area" and editing your listing.

How do I transfer Exchange Dollars to another member?
This is very simple. You can contact another member by clicking on the "Contact Owner" link at the bottom of any listing you see. You must be logged in to do this. You then can contact the owner of a property you are interested in. Once you first work out the details of the exchange in writing and are ready to finalize the exchange, you can send the other member the terms of the exchange, the dates, and the amount of exchange dollars in this form. When you click submit it will transfer the exchange dollars you entered from your account to the other members account.

What if I want to do a traditional Exchange (No Exchange Dollars)?

Exchange Dollars allow you to have someone stay at your home without you having to stay at their home. This allows any member to trade with any other member, but if you and another member want to swap the traditional way (home for home during the same dates) then you can do that also. I validate the home exchange you should still document the terms of the exchange, the exchange dates, and just send each other the same amount of exchange dollars if it is an equal trade. However you work this out is up to you. Exchange Dollars just make it more flexible for everyone.

It's only been two weeks and I am happy to see that our Home Exchange Community is growing. I wanted to highlight one of our new members home listings in our Blog today.

They have a Beautiful contemporary home situated right on the sea shore at Maraetai, just 35 minutes from downtown Auckland. Extensive views across the Tamaki Strait from 6 elevated decks. Media room with 60" TV connected to the internet via high speed broadband.

Maraetai is a small village of people of overwhelmingly European descent within easy road and ferry access to Auckland. Just 30 minutes to Auckland International Airport. There are several fine restaurants including genuine Italian Pizzaria. An international golf course is 5 minutes down theroad. Spectacular coast, country walks and sandy beaches make it the perfect holiday spot.
